The Brits Spend More Time With Tech Than Sleep
Communications regulator Ofcom has said that adults in the UK spend more time on media devices, compared to an average night’s sleep. The found that the average time spent on a device was eight hours and 41 minutes, whilst the average night’s sleep was eight hours and 21 minutes.
Ofcom also found that almost four hours a day are spent watching TV in the survey of 2,800 adults and children.
Younger people were found to have a much more advanced understanding of technology, with results showing that six-year-olds shared the same level of knowledge as an average 45-year-old.
The results also indicate that multi-tasking is more likely for technology users between the age of 16-24, with them able to squeeze over 14 hours worth of media activity in over 9 hours.
Unsurprisingly daily TV viewing has dropped below four hours, which is for the first time since 2010. According to the poll, around 80% of TV viewing is done whilst using another device.
